What are Reiki Attunements?

Attunements are one of the main elements of the reiki system. The traditional Japanese word for attunement is reiju. The word Reiju is represented by 2 Kanji, Rei and Ju. Rei is translated as soul or spirit and Ju is the act of offering spiritual blessings. The process of Reiki / hands on healing is spiritual in nature and comes from universal sources; it also connects us within to our higher self. The healing takes place within but we also become the hollow bone to give healing through us to others and also to ourselves.

The attunement is in its self a sacred ceremony between Master and student. The attunement energies will flow through the Reiki Master and into the student. These special energies are guided by the Higher Power and make adjustments in the student’s energy pathways and connect the student to the source of Reiki. Students may experience different sensations during an attunement, from having intense heat, visions and colour -scapes in the third eye and having spirit visitors. When the reiki master attunes a student it is with pure passion without ego, at the point of clear intention, this is when universal energies flow, the connection takes place. In Japan attunements are given on a monthly basis, additional attunements increases the energy you channel and will bring about changes within yourself and your healing practice at any of the levels.
