Reiki and use of the medicine rattle and spirit drum

The sound of the Drum, the feel of the vibrations, the essence of tribal rhythm. The spirit of the drum beating initially with the rhythm of the human heart beat. Drumming is generally a sound we do not hear unless you belong to a drumming group of one sort or another.

Imagine the uniqness of being drummed over during spirit work, hearing the rattle, taking away the uncontrollable noise in the mind, and even out the thought processes and pace.

I had explored these sounds and rhythms of drumming with a friend, a master of his craft, a craftsman of spirit drums, a Mr P. C. Jones. This was earlier on in my development to which is remembered well..

I imagined that I was a in a place of safety ; feeling sound flowing from my interactions with the drum. Enthusiasm, joy and even sadness flowed from me we danced , we chanted , the healing sounds .

Since that time I have been inspired to incorporate Reiki and other energies with drumming. This combination has produced powerful vibration healing techniques.

The Basic Reiki Drumming Technique

Focusing Intention:

Dialogue with your client to determine the issue they intend to heal. Ask them to focus on the issue and on their willingness to heal and release it. Ask them to confirm that they are willing to make any changes in their thought processes that may be necessary to complete this healing.

State their healing request and that this healing is for the highest good, and that your personality and ego stand aside. This will help Reiki flow clearly and freely through you and your drum. Call on your guides, god and goddess, angels, teachers and healers, of those gone before and t hose that are now present and the healing spirit of your drum, rattle and voice. Allow the songs to be sung, allow your ancestral voices to be heard.

Preparation of Self and Setting Sacred Space:

Draw all the Reiki symbols that you know over your drum, and with each symbol, channel the energy into the drum. Sage the room and fill the space with the sounds of drum or Tibetan chimes, singing bowl. Invite spirit and ask those spirit who are providing negative energy to leave the healing space.

Draw or visualize a large Usui power symbol over your entire body, and also on each chakra starting at the base and moving toward the crown. Intend that your chakras are aligned, clear and open to the full power of the Reiki healing energy.

Preparation of Client:

With your drum beater or your hand draw a large Usui Master symbol), over the client starting above the crown to the base, proceed with Cho Ku rei and others that you may use.

The Session

Draw any Reiki symbol(s) you are guided to use over your drum. Slowly scan the client’s body with the drum, and begin drumming over the area your drum is drawn to. Let Reiki and your drum guide you. Drum for 2-5 minutes 12-24 inches above the physical body, letting the drum glide over the client’s energy field. You may wish to drum longer , let your intuition guide you. Do don drum too hard around the clients head as it may become uncomfortable for the ears, you may wish to move slightly further away from this area.

Shamanic ally or using Reiki alone remove or diminish any negative energy, envisaging that the area is soft pliable and easy to remove/shift. Work where you need to go. The session in total is usually 1 hour. Closing the Session

When you feel guided to stop, draw a Usui power symbol over the client to seal the healing, finish by grounding the client and self. Say thanks to those guides hat helped and to mother earth energies, father sky and to reiki energies.

Note: this is a basic guide and each practitioner will vary their practices accordingly to the situation and the client.
